Student Leadership Opportunities
At Sanderson High School, leadership is about more than wearing a badge—it’s about making a positive difference. We believe every student has the potential to lead, whether through improving learning, building school spirit or supporting their peers.
Our Student Leadership Program provides meaningful opportunities for students in Years 7 – 10 to develop confidence, responsibility, communication and teamwork while contributing to the growth and success of our school community.
Students work alongside staff and school leaders to ensure student voice plays an important role in shaping school life and creating positive experiences for everyone.

Northern Territory Learning Commission (NTLC)
School Representatives for Learning are selected to represent Sanderson High School as members of the Northern Territory Learning Commission (NTLC).
This unique leadership opportunity empowers students to work alongside educators and peers from across the Northern Territory to influence the future of teaching and learning.
Through collaborative projects, student-led research and school improvement initiatives, representatives develop leadership, communication and problem-solving skills while helping shape a more engaging learning environment.
Throughout the year, students also attend leadership workshops, conferences and networking events, building connections and sharing ideas with student leaders from schools across the Territory.

Student Representative Council (SRC)
The Student Representative Council (SRC) is elected by students at the beginning of each year and provides a genuine voice in school decision-making.
Working closely with staff and the Principal, SRC members represent the views of their peers, contribute to school improvement and help strengthen school culture, student wellbeing and community engagement.
Throughout the year, the SRC leads and supports whole-school events, assemblies, fundraising initiatives, student socials and celebrations, fostering inclusion, belonging and pride across the Sanderson High School community.

School Captains
School Captains are the senior student leaders of Sanderson High School, selected through an application process before being elected by their peers. They are trusted role models who lead with integrity, respect and a genuine commitment to our school community.
As the face of Sanderson High School, our School Captains represent the school with pride at official events, welcome distinguished guests and visitors, and play an important role in showcasing our school values. They also lead and host whole-school assemblies, celebrate student achievements and work closely with school leaders to promote a positive, inclusive and connected school culture.
Approachable, respectful and supportive, our School Captains strive to inspire others through their actions and encourage every student to make the most of the opportunities available at Sanderson High School.

House Captains
House Captains lead and promote participation within their Sports House, encouraging students to get involved, show school spirit and represent their house with pride.
They play an important role in the annual Athletics Carnival and other inter-house sporting events, motivating their peers, supporting teamwork and helping create a positive and inclusive atmosphere throughout each competition.
