Our Approach to Wellbeing & Behaviour
We take a proactive, restorative and relationship-focused approach to wellbeing and behaviour. We build positive relationships, set clear expectations and support students to make positive choices. When challenges occur, we use restorative practices to repair harm, rebuild relationships and support better outcomes.
Our approach is inclusive, consistent and centred on the needs of each students, helping them develop the skills, confidence and resilience to thrive and school and in life.

Pastoral Care Group (PCG)
Every student participates in a dedicated Pastoral Care Group (PCG), with a consistent teacher and group of peers. PCG provides a focus for social and emotional learning, wellbeing check-ins and important school information. Our PCG teachers are an important connection between students, families and the school, supporting each student to feel known, supported and valued.
Unconditional Positive Regard (UPR)
At Sanderson High School, Unconditional Positive Regard underpins the way we support, guide and connect with our students. It means recognising the potential in every young person and ensuring they feel valued, respected and supported, regardless of the challenges they may face. Through empathy, positive regard and authenticity, we focus on building strong, trusting relationships and creating a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Students are supported to learn from their experiences, take responsibility for their choices and develop the confidence and skills needed to grow. By maintaining high expectations while providing consistent care and support, we encourage growth, accountability and positive development for every student.
